Publishing Policy & Author and Publisher Responsibility

PYE is a facilitated self-publishing platform, not a peer-reviewed academic publisher.

Copyright, permissions and publishing authority

Authors retain copyright in their original works unless a separate valid agreement states otherwise. A publisher submitting a book must have the right to publish and distribute it through PYE and must obtain and retain written permission or a publishing agreement from the relevant author(s) and any other rights holders. Publishers must be able to confirm that authority on request and are responsible for securing permissions for third-party content. Publishing through PYE does not by itself transfer an author's copyright to PYE. PYE receives only the permissions needed to display, distribute, sell and make an approved book available to readers, subject to the applicable publishing agreement.

Author and publisher responsibility

Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, legality, citations, permissions and content of the works they submit, including claims, opinions, images, quotations and other included materials. Publishers submitting works on behalf of authors are responsible for verifying their authority to publish the work through PYE, obtaining and retaining the necessary written permissions or agreements from the relevant author(s) and rights holders, and ensuring that the submitted work does not infringe intellectual-property rights, violate privacy, defame others or otherwise breach applicable law.

Royalty and commercial terms

A royalty share of up to 75% may be offered, but this is not a fixed or guaranteed rate. The actual share depends on the individual book, publishing arrangement and other relevant factors, and will be finalized in the signed publishing contract. The applicable agreement should also clarify any fees, payment arrangements, permitted distribution, exclusivity (if any), publication timing, updates and withdrawal conditions. No specific royalty rate or commercial arrangement should be assumed before the final contract is signed.

Editorial and peer-review status

To make independent publishing simpler and more accessible, PYE does not routinely provide rigorous academic peer review, detailed fact-checking, professional copyediting or comprehensive legal review. Any preliminary screening or acceptance decision is not a certification of accuracy, originality, academic quality or legal compliance. Individual books should not be described as peer reviewed unless an actual review process has been completed and documented.

Claims and legal liability

Authors are responsible for claims arising from content they submit, to the extent permitted by applicable law and the publishing agreement. PYE does not adopt an author's views as its own. This statement does not exclude obligations or liabilities that applicable law places on PYE, including duties relating to platform operations, consumer rights, privacy, intellectual property or unlawful content.

Pre-order cancellation and refunds

Only pre-orders are eligible for voluntary cancellation and a full refund under this pre-publication policy. Readers who pre-order an upcoming book may request a full refund at any time before its publication. Published-book purchases are not eligible for cancellation or refund under this pre-order policy; applicable consumer-law rights remain unaffected. To request a refund, contact PYE through the Contact page and provide the order tracking reference and payment information needed to verify the purchase. PYE will verify the request and arrange a refund through an appropriate payment channel. Publication dates are estimates and may change. If PYE cancels publication, customers with unfulfilled pre-orders will be offered a full refund.

Manual onboarding and complaints

Publishing access for authors and publishers is not automatic. PYE reviews inquiries before granting access and may reject, suspend or remove content where appropriate. Readers and rights holders may report copyright concerns, inaccurate representations or other legal issues through the Contact page. PYE will review reports and take appropriate action.

This is a public policy summary. Publishing agreements and applicable law govern the parties' enforceable rights and obligations. Independent legal review is recommended before onboarding third-party authors.
